A Real Mastermind

Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is an epithelial cytokine that sits at the top of the inflammatory cascade.1-3

For some patients with severe asthma, TSLP may drive an immune response that overreacts to various insults or injury to the epithelium via multiple downstream effector cells.1-4

The overexpression of TSLP can result in pathologic inflammation, which can cause increased symptoms and asthma exacerbations,1-3,6 and may also contribute to structural changes through effects on airway smooth muscle cells, mast cells, and fibroblasts, promoting airway dysregulation and remodeling.7-12
